Katharina Hörmann ist eine der vielversprechendsten jungen Protagonistinnen der Wiener Musiziertradition.
Bereits mit ihrem Gewinn des Casinos Austria Rising Star Awards 2015 machte die junge österreichische Oboistin auf sich aufmerksam und brachte so die Wiener Oboe, ein im solistischen Bereich eher rares Instrument, einem größeren Publikum zu Gehör. Katharina Hörmann wurde 1995 in Wiener Neustadt geboren und begann mit acht Jahren ihre musikalische Ausbildung. 2010 wurde sie in die Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien aufgenommen, um ihr Konzertfachstudium bei den Professoren Harald Hörth und Klaus Lienbacher zu absolvieren. Musikalisch wurde sie außerdem maßgeblich von Günther Passin (Mozarteum), Ingo Goritzki (Hannover und Stuttgart) und Christian Wetzel aus Köln geprägt. Für ihre weitere solistische Laufbahn erhielt die Künstlerin wertvolle Impulse von ihrer Mentorin Nora Pötter-Grabko, Geschäftsführerin der Künstleragentur Dr. Raab & Dr. Böhm. Nach ersten Erfolgen bei zahlreichen Oboenwettbewerben (Hadamovski-, Eli Freud, Anton Tyroler-Oboenwettbewerb), war sie unter anderem Preisträgerin bei Musica Juventutis, Stipendiatin der Anny Felbermayer Fonds und zuletzt Siegerin des Casinos Austria Rising Star Awards.
Nach ersten Erfahrungen in namhaften Orchestern (Wiener Staatsopernorchester,
Barockensemble der Wiener Symphoniker, Consortium Musicum oder im Rahmen der Sommerakademie der Wiener Philharmoniker im Bühnenorchester bei den Salzburger Festspielen) ist Katharina Hörmann mittlerweile als Solistin und Kammermusikerin im In-und Ausland erfolgreich. 2017 folgte sie einer Einladung zum internationalen Oboenfestival Qingdao als Dozentin und konzertierte als Solistin mit dem Festivalorchester. Es folgten solistische Auftritte mit zahlreichen Orchestervereinigungen, wie dem Kammerorchester Con Fuoco oder der Webern Kammerphilharmonie. Ihr Debüt im Wiener Musikverein und im Wiener Konzerthaus erfolgten 2015. Im großen Musikvereinssaal debütierte sie 2017 mit Pascullis „La Favorita” im Rahmen der 200- Jahr-Feierlichkeiten der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. 2019 war sie als Solistin mit den Vienna Classical Players im Mozart-Saal des Wiener Konzerthauses sowie im Kinderkonzert-Zyklus Cinello zu hören. Seither absolvierte sie zahlreiche Auftritte in Radio und Fernsehen, folgte einer Einladung zum Bell´Arte Music Campus unter der künstlerischen Leitung von Dag Jensen und ist Mitglied der „Live Music Now”-Stiftung.

Katharina Hörmann is one of the most promising young practitioners of the Viennese musical tradition.
With her instrument, the Viennese oboe, she will be a “Featured Artist” of Jeunesse Musicale for the 2021/2022 season and will play numerous concerts, including concerts at the Vienna Musikverein and the Vienna Konzerthaus. Katharina Hörmann was born in Wiener Neustadt in 1995 and began her musical education at the age of eight. In 2010 she was accepted by the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna to study under the guidance of Harld Hörth and Klaus Lienbacher. Her musical style was also significantly influenced by Günther Passin (Mozarteum Salzburg), Ingo Goritzki (Hannover and Stuttgart) and Christain Wetzel from Köln. She additionally received valuable input for her further soloistic career path from her mentor Nora Pötter-Grabko, managing director of the artist agency Dr. Raab & Dr. Böhm. After winning numerous oboe competitions (Hadamovski, Eli Freud, Anton Tyroler), Katharina Hörmann was a laureate of the renowned Austrian youth competition Musica Juventutis and a recipient of the Anny Felbermayer fund. In 2015 the young Austrian won the Casinos Austria Rising Star Award, which brought attention to herself and introduced the Viennese oboe, which is a rather rare instrument in the soloistic field, to a wider audience.
After gaining experience in leading international orchestras (Vienna State Opera, the baroque ensemble of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Consortium Musicum) and participating in the the summer academy of the Vienna Philharmonic during the Salzburg Festival, Katharina Hörmann became successful as a soloist and as a chamber musician both in Austria and abroad. Katharina played her debut at the Vienna Musikverein and Konzerthaus in 2015. In 2017, she was invited to the International Oboe Festival in Qingdao, China, where she held a masterclass, played a solo recital, and debuted as a soloist with the Qingdao Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, she appeared with the chamber orchestra Con Fuoco and the Webern Kammerphilharmonie. Also in 2017, she gave her first appearance in Musikverein’s Golden Hall, playing Antonio Pasculli’s “La Favorita” as part of the 200th anniversary gala of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. In 2019 she performed in the children’s concert cycle Cinello as well as with the Vienna Classical Players in the Mozart Hall of the Wiener Konzerthaus. Most recently, Katharina has had numerous appearances on television and radio, was invited to participate at the Bell´Arte Music Campus under the artistic direction of Dag Jensen, and is a member of the “Live Music Now” foundation.
